Portraits

During Term 1 and Term 2 we learnt about the shapes of our faces and face structures. We practised drawing the different parts and then put it altogether to make a portrait. We learnt painting skills from Karen and after we had finished the face then we collaged the background. Here are pictures of us doing this art and our finished products

Buddy Volcano Time

Last Friday we saw our buddy classes Volcano. They showed us if they put detergent and vinegar and baking soda inside the volcano then it will erupt!
We made a circle so that everyone could see, and Karina had all the ingredients ready and then she called people up to help.

We had to put some detergent in first, it was in a measuring cup. Then we added the red food coloring. We used red food colouring because the lava form the volcano is red.
Then we put some baking soda into the volcano and Maira was shaking the measuring cup to get the powder to go down the funnel.
Keshavee and Oliva poured white vinegar into the volcano.

First Karina stirred it with the whirly gig stick. Then ....Then it started to erupt.
The lava kept bubbling out of the volcano.
Mrs Amputch was trying to stop it as it was nearly onto the concrete. It was fun but some of us were a bit scared because we thought it was going to explode.

5 & 6 Year olds Cross Country

Congratulations to Isla for a 3rd place in the 6 year old girl's Cross country. That was a great race.
I got puffed when I was in area 2, so I slowed down a bit. And then I went fast at the end of the race. Armani was just in front of me, but Piper was already at the end of the race. By Isla.

The year 2 students were looking at the New Zealand bush, the trees, the insects and the birds. This is their art work put together on our wall:

From Garden to Table

So first Esther was cutting potatoes in half and I cut the thyme, silverbeet, and spinach all into small pieces. By Keshavee

When I was cutting the onion my eyes were crying and they told me not to cry. By Esther
Next I was cutting spring onions while Keshavee was cutting thyme.
Esther is cutting carrot as thick as a 50c piece. The carrots weren't coming out of the grater so we had to empty out the grater and start again.
Then we put 6 eggs in the pan and oops some shell went in. We added cheese, salt and pepper and then we tipped our chopped up vegges in. Then lastly we tipped in our herbs and we mixed it altogether with a spoon. We took turns.

We were scooping it in the fry pan.

The other kids were making soup, bread with garlic and cheese and rhubarb and ginger slice. We had a wonderful morning, thank you Jeanne.
